Labour Hopes to Wreck Immigration Bill

The Labour Party will attempt to wreck the Government’s Immigration Bill today, as it believes the law “panders to prejudice”.

Shadow Home Secretary, Andy Burnham, warns that parts of the legislation would “make Britain a hostile and unwelcoming country”1.

The bill will see landlords obliged to check the immigration status of all new tenants.

Labour MPs will vote for a wrecking amendment, but it is thought that the bill will definitely be passed.

  • I find it incredulous that despite Labour's reputation for wrecking everything during their time in power they now are failing to wreck this bill when we could really do with them doing so. Andy Burnham is seemingly nothing but soundbites with no substance and with Jeremy Corbyn now leading the way for Labour they are nothing more than a joke clearing the way for the Conservatives to do what they want with no risk of losing their grip on power in 5 years time.
